Tribute to Lizzy
For the past 4-5 years, I have been a Hospice Volunteer with Hospice of the Chesapeake in Prince Georges County. I feel honored to participate in this program, and am touched by each person I’ve met along the way. This tribute is to one very sweet, special hospice patient that brought so much joy to this plane. Her family is a shining example of unconditional love, humor and all that is worthy of the feminine energies. I owe much gratitude to all of you for allowing me into your home, hearts and to experience your love.
Tribute: To a sweet hospice patient
It is many tics past the birth of a new calendar square. A distant symphony whispers ‘safe’ to my soul, as I relax, enveloped in the illusion of permanence. The bottom of my cup surprises me. Did I enjoy the sips? Did they register on some sub level at least?
Mere streets away, each in-breath are one less labor. She dwelled in this world untainted …eyes without guile... form without shadow. A sibling lays close, bodies touching, as others gather near. Tears fall and soft voices murmur as caring hearts release their hold. Far beyond this curtain, soaring boundless and free, she is greeted by a familiar embrace…laughing joyously… welcomed home.
Hours before, I’d stumbled upon a folder. Perusing the list of yesterday names evoked recollections of conversations held, and precious moments shared. While each exchange has been an honor, this is uniquely special; for in this presence was a teacher.
Thank you Lizzie.
