Biography

Janice Ervin – Paraphysic Lecturer and Event Coordinator

Heeding a call to the service of others, Janice volunteered in the United States Army from 1979 – 1983. During this time, she received rapid advancement to Sergeant, and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service.

Through the years, she volunteered for a variety of assistance programs through Holy Family Catholic Church. This wonderful outlet offered great diversity in ways to assist others, from providing holiday meals and spear heading gift drives, to aiding the elderly.

Her favorite program involved selecting a day several times a year, to enable children from challenging home situations an opportunity to attend ‘their’ birthday party at Watkins Regional Park. Specifically, these were children who had never experienced a birthday party.

On this day, Janice and her husband Vic would drive to the homes to pick the little ones up, and take them to Watkins park where they would enjoy a hayride, time with the animals in the petting zoo, play games, open presents donated by caring parishioners, sing songs, laugh, run, and eat birthday cake. For just a little while, the daily struggles these children knew were far from their thoughts.

During her employ with Sytel Corporation, she spearheaded an annual food and clothing drive to assist multiple programs for abused mothers and children in the Washington DC area.

In fact, touched by the number of homeless wandering the streets of Washington, for several years, she and her husband purchased food and packed multiple lunches each night. She would then walk the streets of Washington, offering these bagged lunches to the homeless during her lunch hour, and after work hours.  This well intentioned project came to an abrupt albeit humorous halt when she found herself being questioned by the police on one occasion, and chased down a street, pelted with the food she attempted to offer, to one homeless woman!

As a volunteer for Larkin Chase Nursing Home in Bowie, she fully enjoyed the company of those in their autumn years, by playing games, polishing nails, reading books and sometimes simply sitting to chat. And for the past several years, she has been a hospice and vigil service volunteer for Hospice of the Chesapeake in Prince Georges County, an incredible avenue for assisting those in need of end of life care, as well as their emotionally extended families.

During 2005 and 2006, she hosted a local cable talk show, titled 'Open Mind' on Comcast Channel #77 and Verizon Channel #11 with BCMC, in an effort to provide the latest scientific research on para physic topics. In fact, though new on the air, 'Open Mind' was  nominated   in 2006  for  5  awards,  to  include  'Best Host' and 'Interesting Subject Matter'.

A life of enormous loss caused her to question from a young age, the roots to general life precepts, fueling a desire to understand the purpose of existence, its cycles and all that such theories entail.

Her studies, spanning more than 20 years, include multiple facets of historic thought, such as Kaballah, philosophy, and the Cosmic Principles. As she continued to gather information through the theory of Tarot, Mediumship, reincarnation, altered states of consciousness, the dying process and  the stages of grief, she noticed a synchronicity with regard to  the cyclical nature of existence. She eventually formed a core philosophy that remains open to change, yet tried and true when applied to the larger questions of existence itself.

She enjoys sharing that which she has gleaned thus far with others, and was the Message Board Moderator for Evidential Medium, Barb Mallon, from 2004 - 2005.

Janice  is  a  member  of  the  Rhine  Research  Center  (for  scientific  studies pertaining to evidence of continuation of consciousness), and an advocate for a more  thinking,  aware,  discerning  universe.  Motivating  a  shift  towards  a perspective rooted in compassion, she  is  driven to offer such learning,  in  the hope  that  others  seeking,  might  recognize  seeds  to cultivate  in their  repertoire towards personal truth.
